Martin Palin is a Dutch Golden Age artist. 4 works are cataloged here, principally at Rijksmuseum.

These are formal portraits of two Dutch governors of colonial Indonesia, Cornelis Speelman and Rycklof van Goens. Painted in oil around 1690 and again in 1775, each shows the official in dark coat and white collar, seated against plain backgrounds. The later versions are more softly lit, suggesting the century’s shift in portrait style. Tap either Portrait of Cornelis Speelman to compare the two versions side by side.
