J. Haytley

J. Haytley is an Impressionism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

English printmaker in the mid-1800s, J. Haytley carved scenes straight onto wood blocks, inked them, and pressed the image onto paper—no cameras, no photos. Try the print H Beard Collection (1st June 1875) and you’ll see the delicate cross-hatching that turns a single tree or a horse-drawn cart into a quiet moment frozen in ink. Look closer and you can feel the pressure of the hand press; the wood grain even shows through. Tap this print to zoom in on every scratch and dot.
