Artist

Urbain Massard

Urbain Massard is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

Urbain Massard spent his days cranking out copies of old masters in a cramped Paris print-shop, ink-stained fingers and all. He turned the *Mona Lisa* into a cheap pocket print you could tuck behind your mirror, the smirk shrunk to the size of a thumbnail. You’ll find his 19th-century knock-off stacked in bins at Marché aux Puces de Vanves—look for the faded green frame and the price tag still curling at the corner.
