Matsouki Irini

Greek painter Irini Matsouki’s 1992 work Interior shows a quiet corner of a sunlit room where a single chair and a small table hold a cup of tea and a folded newspaper left open as if someone just stepped out. The flat planes of color and sharp edges belong to the austere tradition of Greek modernism, stripped of ornament.
