Hendrik van Waterschoot

d. 1748

Hendrik van Waterschoot was an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Bavarian State Painting Collections. Hendrik van Waterschoot was born in Antwerp.

Hendrik van Waterschoot kept a tiny studio above a spice shop in Haarlem, where the scent of cinnamon and cloves clung to his brushes. He painted ordinary kitchens and laundry days with the same care other artists saved for biblical scenes. His *Still Life with Herring* (1635) shows a fish on a pewter platter—nothing glamorous, just a quiet moment that makes you feel like you’re standing right there.
