Edouard Sacaillan
Edouard Sacaillan is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Metropolitan Organisation of Museums of Visual Arts of Thessaloniki – MOMus.
Edouard Sacaillan kept a half-finished painting on his kitchen table for years, covering it with a tea-stained cloth between meals. The 1995 work Πρόσωπα is exactly that cloth lifted: a blur of faces where the fabric’s folds melt into skin, so you can’t tell which is painted and which is cloth. Put this painting next to a Greek icon in the same gallery—notice how icons freeze faces in gold, while Πρόσωπα lets them dissolve—then watch how the room’s light bounces off the raised paint like candle wax.
