Artist
Theodore Fort
Theodore Fort is a Romanticism artist. 2 works are cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.
Theodore Fort kept a small studio above a coffee roaster in Dijon, where he sketched on whatever scraps came to hand—torn receipts, old receipts, even the backs of seed packets. By day he drew street scenes, but by night he worked in secret: thin, searching lines that tangled into tiny, swirling faces no bigger than a thumbnail. Look at *Untitled (ca. 1845, Drawing)*—the way the ink pools in the cheek’s hollow, like a held breath—then follow the cobblestone path to Dijon’s rue Verrerie; you’ll still feel the ghost of his footsteps.
