Jakugon

Jakugon is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

This Korean artist painted ink-on-silk works in the mid-1700s, often scenes of lone scholars in quiet rooms or moonlight gardens. Look for Poem (The Hermit Does Not Sleep at Night) on your screen: a man sits with brush in hand, inkwell nearby, while outside a single tree is caught in a beam of lamplight. Press to zoom in and you’ll see the calligraphy beside him—just a line or two, hinting at the poem he’s still composing.
