John Heathcote

John Heathcote is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

John Heathcote carried a tiny paintbox everywhere—trains, ferries, anywhere with a view. He loved the chalk cliffs at Dover so much he painted them over and over, always in watercolour because the paint dried fast and he could keep moving. His castle sits on the cliff like a cardboard cut-out, every stone sharp and every shadow just a little too dark for a sunny day. If you’ve ever squinted at a postcard and wondered why the colours look too bright, Heathcote did it first.
