Artist

Charles Mant

Charles Mant is an Impressionism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

Charles Mant carried a tiny wooden paintbox in his coat pocket wherever he went, sketching on the sly. In 1880 he sat down in the marble halls of Laxmi Vilas Palace and let the pink sandstone glow pinker on paper, trying to outshine the real light. The watercolour he left behind lets you step inside those mirrored corridors without leaving your chair—just swipe to zoom in on the tiny tiles inside the courtyard archway.
