Molleno

Molleno is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Brooklyn Museum.

Molleno painted saints like they were neighbors you’d meet on the way to the market—no halos, just urgent hands pulling souls from purgatory. In 1850 he captured Saint Francis mid-rescue, those souls half-formed like smoke caught in daylight, and made holiness look like a late-night rescue. You’ll find it next to the exit doors at the Met’s American Wing; follow the crowds to the small dark painting with the white-robed saint and the floating outlines.
