Artist

Visscher, L

Visscher, L is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Leiden University Libraries.

This 17th-century Dutch artist specialized in painted portraits. In the Gallery you’ll find their Portrait of Charles Drelincourt, a framed oval canvas that captures the subject’s lace collar and steady gaze. Their brushwork belongs to the Dutch Golden Age, when Amsterdam’s art market boomed and sitters paid for presence as much as likeness. Look closer and you can spot the sitter’s right hand resting on a book spine. Tap the portrait to zoom in on the stitching of the fabric and the way light slides across the page edges.
