Nils Jakob Olsson Blommér

Nils Jakob Olsson Blommér is an artist. 9 works are cataloged here, principally at Finnish National Gallery.
Nils Jakob Olsson Blommér never traveled further than his studio in Stockholm, yet his walls are full of Italian harbors and Tuscan hills. He kept copies of Titian and Raphael pinned up like cheat sheets, tracing their bold colors and dramatic skies until his own brush did the same. His “Galatean riemusaatto” is a quiet riot of sea-blue and coral robes that looks like it just stepped off a Roman sarcophagus. If you like the drama of classical stories but want a Swedish twist, Blommér’s copywork is your secret shortcut straight into the action.
