Milly Sleger

Milly Sleger is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

Milly Sleger kept a Brownie camera in her apron pocket and snapped pictures of the same empty chair in her backyard for years. She never printed most of them. The one that did survive shows the chair’s slats bleached by sun and rain, a ghost of someone who sat there only in her mind. Look up Sleger’s “Untitled (Photograph)” and you’ll see how a single object can hold a whole life in ten seconds of film.
