Hansen

Hansen is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

She lugged a glass-plate camera up and down London’s West End after dark, waiting for actors to step out of theaters. One night she spotted Ellen Terry from the Lyceum in full Lady Macbeth costume, and caught the glow of the gas lamps in her eyes—so sharp it looked like Terry had just stepped off a stage. One look at the print and you know Hansen didn’t just photograph the famous, she photographed the moment they became legends. Hunt down the glass-negative called “Guy Little Theatrical Photograph” and you’ll see what we mean.
