Artist

Nicola Michetti

Nicola Michetti is a Baroque artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

Nicola Michetti was the kind of guy who could turn a stiff royal portrait into a party. He hung around the early-1700s Roman art scene, where fancy wigs met fancy palaces, and somehow made both feel alive. His prints hum with movement—muscles, drapery, and light that bends like fabric caught in a breeze. One sheet you’ll actually remember is the 1729 H Beard Collection print: a grand staircase that looks like it’s climbing right off the page. If you stand close and tilt your head, the stone steps start to breathe.
