Bennett
Bennett is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.
Bennett spent his days running a London photography studio in the 1880s, where actors would pose for headshots that doubled as calling cards. He’d often swap the heavy backdrop for a park bench or a pub doorway just to see how the light changed their faces. A collector once told me that Bennett’s prints are still the easiest way to spot an actor’s real smile—quick, unguarded, caught between takes. Hunt down *Guy Little Theatrical Photograph* and you’ll see what he means.
