Vassiliki Boukoni liked to mix sex and politics in the same sentence—literally. She once silkscreened a politician’s face onto an erotic Greek vase because, she said, “They both talk too much.” Her 1997 painting *Ερωτικό* shows a couple tangled in neon sheets, faces half-hidden, one hand always reaching for something outside the frame. Slide over to Boukoni’s studio in Athens and you’ll see the same restless energy; she kept a Xerox of the painting taped to her door as a reminder to stay messy.
