A. Kay

A. Kay is a British Romanticism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

A. Kay spent evenings sketching the crumbling walls of Craigmillar Castle, a place where Mary, Queen of Scots once hid. He’d bring a pocketful of watercolours and work until the light turned blue, capturing every mossy stone and crooked window. The castle’s uneven floors became his second studio—he’d prop his board on whatever wouldn’t collapse. Their 1813 visit produced a series of watercolours that still feel warm in your hands. Look up *Craigmillar Castle, near Edinburgh* and you’ll see why his brush made stone feel like a secret.
