George Grattan

George Grattan is a British Romanticism artist. 2 works are cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

A Dublin artist who left us crisp watercolors of the city’s rooftops and lanes in the early 1800s. Look at his “South view of Christ Church, Dublin” for sharp spires and slate rooftops on a wet afternoon, or flip to “Noontide: three children with sheep,” where bright light hits barefoot kids and woolly backs in a sunlit field. Both sheets feel like postcards that never left the neighborhood. Next, zoom into the steeple-top details in “South view of Christ Church, Dublin.”
