Philipp Jakob Becker

Philipp Jakob Becker is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at The Badisches Landesmuseum.

A German draftsman active in the late 1700s, Philipp Jakob Becker specialized in chalk and pencil portraits of the Baden court. His chalk drawing Bildnis: Karl Friedrich von Baden shows the young margrave in uniform and powdered wig. Becker’s crisp line and careful shading belong to the late Baroque tradition favored by German princely circles. Look next at the same margrave’s coat of arms in the margin of the sheet.
