Artist

William Bennett

William Bennett is a British Romanticism artist. 2 works are cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

William Bennett carried a tiny sketchbook everywhere and filled it with quick, wet-on-wet watercolours—so light his wife joked he painted with a whisper. He once knocked on doors in Bolton until a factory owner let him stand in the yard for twenty minutes, just long enough to catch the brick dust and sunlight in *Bolton*. His castles and churches dissolve into mist because he believed ruins should feel alive, not dead. Slide into Gallery Tiles on *Warkworth Castle* and watch the limestone climb out of the paper.
