Artist
Maria Athanasiou
Maria Athanasiou is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Athens School of Fine Arts.
Maria Athanasiou’s camera never blinks. She turns the lens on her own body—aging, scarred, ordinary—until the frame feels like a confession you weren’t meant to overhear. In 2013’s “Άτιτλο” she left the title blank, forcing viewers to sit with the image itself: a forearm marked in Greek ink that reads “nothing,” a quiet rebellion against the pressure to perform beauty. Swipe through this series and you’ll feel the weight of unfiltered time.
