Artist

Lavezzari

Lavezzari is an Impressionism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

Lavezzari kept a tiny apartment in Paris where the light hit the floor at a cruel 4 p.m. angle, and that’s where he painted the women you remember—not as portraits but as quick, watery presences. He loved capturing them mid-gesture, towel over shoulder, hair half-tied, like you’ve caught them before they vanish. Slide past the big oils and find his 1873 watercolour of a woman bending toward a washbasin; it’s a single sheet that still smells like Parisian soap.
