Artist
William Kenneth
William Kenneth is a Romanticism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This artist made single-sheet prints in the early 1800s, often small news- or gossip-sheets sold in London streets by a boy with a basket. One surviving sheet is dated 29 May 1826 and carries a wry hand-colored woodcut of a fop tipping his hat. Look for the same print in the Beard Collection to see how the inked outline was then hand-touched with watercolor. Next, swipe to the 29 May 1826 date itself—it’s the only concrete thread in the bundle.
