Catherine Walsh

Catherine Walsh is an artist. 3 works are cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.
Printmaker Catherine Walsh makes layered, hand-pulled prints that often anchor on a single place or object. In 2007’s The Pearl she prints a single luminous nacre against a soft aquatint ground; in 2011’s Sussex Church the nave’s lancet windows float like slender pencils of light across the sheet. Each image is built in successive passes on copper or zinc plates, inked à la poupée so color shifts within a single impression. If you like the way ink behaves under your eyes, tap The Pearl to see the plate’s bite in the pearl’s inner glow.
