Artist

Marian Emma Chase

Marian Emma Chase is an Impressionism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

Marian Emma Chase painted quiet English gardens and fields in watercolour around the 1870s. Her brush traced delicate wildflowers and soft light just before the Impressionists took over. In the Tate’s collection you can see her 1872 sheet “Wild flowers,” a simple sprig of cowslips or stitchwort that looks like a pressed bouquet you’d tuck into a book. Want another close-up?
