Bucharest-based painter Ilie Burghelea made thick, earthy prints and paintings of Romanian religious sites in the mid-20th century. Two pieces in this set show the same subject twice: the brick walls and blue roofs of Mănăstirea Neamț, one as an oil on canvas, the other as a drypoint etching titled Autoportret.
