The Pictorial World

The Pictorial World is an Impressionism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

Henry Beard’s prints feel like postcards from a 19th-century holiday—if the holiday was a day trip through London’s back alleys and market stalls. He sketched what most artists ignored: the straw-hatted apple seller, a muddy dog napping between carts, the exact slant of a pub’s sign. One afternoon in 1874, Beard caught a single moment on paper—the print titled “27th June 1874”—and froze a whole city in motion. If you’ve ever stood on the Thames embankment watching boats drift past the same bridges he drew, you’re already inside his world.
