Artist
James Crabb
James Crabb is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.
James Crabb liked his furniture to stand up straight. While the rest of Victorian England draped chairs in velvet and curls, he drew clean lines and sturdy legs for Kneller Hall, the Royal Military School of Music’s new home in Twickenham. His designs show a quiet rebellion against fuss—no carved cherubs, just honest wood and practical curves. See them yourself on the walls of Kneller Hall; the oak benches still hold the same pencil marks he made 150 years ago.
