Sorin Ionescu made prints and paintings in mid-20th-century Romania. In 1942 he turned his eye to Crimea with Peisaj din Crimeea, a lithograph of sunlit cliffs and sea. Three decades later he pulled Efect de noapte la Mangalia, a night scene on the Black Sea coast where moonlit waves meet the shore. A self-portrait from 1955 rounds out the set. Step from print to print to follow the Black Sea’s shifting light across time.
