Artist

J. J. Walther

J. J. Walther is a Baroque artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

J.J. Walther loved painting food more than faces—especially peppers, their glossy skins catching the light just so. He kept a tiny studio above a London spice shop, so the smells drifted up while he worked. In *Red Peppers, Capiscum*, he traps the heat of summer in watercolor, each curve and crease so true you can almost taste the spice. Hunt this one down in the British Museum’s prints and drawings room; it’s tucked near the back, easy to miss but worth the stop.
