Jiahui Miao

Jiahui Miao is a Mughal Painting artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

A painter of the early 20th century, Jiahui Miao put delicate flowers onto silk, choosing peonies as a recurring subject around 1906-1908. Their Peonies shows tightly coiled buds and soft petals in ink and color, following the still-life tradition of the late Qing era. Look closer and you can spot the way the leaves curl at the edges and the way stamens are picked out in fine, separate strokes. Next, zoom in on the layering of color in Peonies to see how the petals gain depth.
