Manwaring Shurlock
Manwaring Shurlock is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.
Manwaring Shurlock filled small sheets with quick, delicate lines, mostly in the late 1800s. Most of what survives are loose drawings—just a few untitled scraps of figures and faces, done in pencil or ink. The few pieces we have sit in the quiet corner between academic drawing and the freer sketchbooks of the era. Tap Untitled to zoom in on one of those late-century sheets and see the spare, sure strokes that carry almost 150 years of handwork.
