Artist
Jules Schaumburg
Jules Schaumburg is an Impressionism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This 19th-century artist painted top-down views of historic sites, a style called bird’s-eye or plan view art. His “Bird’s eye view of the old city of Amber” (ca. 1860) shows the walled Rajasthani city from above, every temple and courtyard captured as if from a hot-air balloon. These prints were popular souvenirs for travelers on the Grand Trunk Road. Tap the map in the corner to zoom into the pink sandstone ramparts.
