Artist

Hayes

Hayes is a British Romanticism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

This watercolor artist painted the Welsh peak Snowdon again and again between about 1870 and 1918, turning its slopes and mists into delicate, layered scenes. They used quick brushstrokes and soft washes to catch fleeting light and weather on the mountain. A small sheet like Landscape: Snowdon became a mini-portal to the rugged landscape, letting travelers bring the view home. Take a closer look at Snowdon’s changing moods in this bundle.
