Julius Mendes 'Jmp' Price
Julius Mendes 'Jmp' Price is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.
He kept a jar of loose type on his mantel and set poems by friends underneath it as bookmarks. In 1904 he clipped a tiny notice from a London paper—“Missing—black spaniel”—and turned it into a print on the spot; the dog still stares from the corner of *H Beard Print Collection*. You can see the ink smudge where he ran out of letters and just doodled a paw print in the margin. Hunt down that print and you’ll notice the date is handwritten twice—once in ink, once in pencil—because he forgot which side of midnight he’d finished.
