Michael I, zis Raphael Flamand Coxie
Michael I, zis Raphael Flamand Coxie is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Brukenthal National Museum.
He spent his life painting Bible scenes on the side of roller-coaster carts in a traveling amusement park. The guy traveled with the rides because he needed the flat metal walls to stretch canvases on the fly. One afternoon he painted the Garden of Eden on the front car of the “Rail” attraction—a lush jungle spilling out of a redwood door, Adam and Eve standing under a neon rainbow. Try to spot the tiny roller-coaster track curving around the trunk; it’s the only clue the whole scene is about to flip upside-down in three seconds.
