Jean Dehoorn is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Finnish National Gallery.
Jean Dehoorn once confessed he painted only when his cat napped on the windowsill, and you can almost see the window light in his still lifes—soft, sideways, like a cat’s lazy blink. He stacked everyday things—a chair, a plate, a book—until they looked both stubborn and tender, as if they’d refuse to sit still if you turned your back. His Asetelma tuolilla (Still Life on a Chair) is the easiest place to step in: notice how the chair’s slats cut the scene into quiet stripes, like a slow blink you don’t want to end.
