Mahesvari Devi
Mahesvari Devi is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.
Mahesvari Devi carried a paintbrush in her sari pocket like a secret, pulling it out between chores to sketch village life on scraps of paper. Her 1973 Untitled painting shows a group of women in bright saris, their backs to us, walking toward a distant river under a sky full of birds. You’ll find it tucked in the folk-art corner of the Patna Museum if you ask nicely—the guard knows where.
