Artist

Giuseppe Galli

Giuseppe Galli is a Romanticism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

Giuseppe Galli made prints in the early 1800s, a time when shops in Rome and Naples sold small engraved scenes to travelers. In 1827 he produced a set called H Beard Print Collection, each sheet showing a different landmark or costume. His neat lines and careful shading fit the popular print tradition of the day, when exact detail mattered more than bold style. Tap H Beard Print Collection to page through his bound volumes and see Naples’ bay or Rome’s piazzas rendered in ink.
