Artist

Charles Marshall

Charles Marshall is a British Romanticism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

Charles Marshall spent his life painting the same patch of sky over Windsor Castle—watercolours at sunrise, noon, and dusk, as if the light might finally spill the right shade of pink. He never left home, yet his tiny notebooks traveled the world; collectors called them “weather in a box.” You’ll find their delicate gradients tucked inside the Queen’s Drawing Room at Windsor Castle, right where he first set up his stool.
