J. Greenwood
J. Greenwood is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.
Jasper Greenwood printed his images on the cheap, stuffing them into London shop windows between 1872 and 1890 like flyers you’d grab on the street. He turned everyday faces—bakers, dockworkers, a girl with a basket of eels—into bold black-and-white pictures you could almost smell the ink on. Next time you’re near Covent Garden, look for the print called “The Mudlark” hanging in the corner of the old market square; it’s the one where a kid in rags grins up at you like he just found a penny in the gutter.
