Artist

Tulsi Kalan

Tulsi Kalan is a Mughal Painting artist. 2 works are cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

Mughal India’s small-scale portraits often paired sitters with patterned carpets or scattered flowers—this artist’s brush gave us the 1590s “Mirza Ibrahim Husain” standing beside a crimson cushion, the folds of his robe catching a soft glow from an unseen lamp. Their other “Untitled” sheet shows a line of slim cypresses against a pale sky, inked in the same decade. The works sit in the same quiet palette: warm reds, chalky greens, and paper that has aged to parchment yellow. Tap to see Mirza Ibrahim Husain again, or slide into the next sheet of Mughal album pages.
