Artist

Antoine Margry

Antoine Margry is a Realism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

Antoine Margry kept a cluttered studio in 1840s Paris where paint tubes sat beside teacups and stray flowers wilted in jam jars. He painted everyday bouquets with a soft, almost powdery touch that made roses look freshly picked. If you’ve ever paused in front of a still life at a small museum, you’ve probably seen his 1849 “Flowers in a Vase”—a simple glass vase holding peonies, their petals catching the light just right.
