Schrag

Schrag is an Impressionism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Cleveland Museum of Art.

She carried a sketchbook everywhere, even to church, where she’d sit for hours drawing the stone ribs of vaults and the way light slid through stained glass. No one told her women weren’t supposed to study architecture, so she taught herself perspective by counting bricks in the nave of St. Lorenz Cathedral. Why she belongs here: tap “Entrance, St. Lorenz Cathedral, Nuremberg” and you’ll see how she turned a cold stone doorway into a glowing puzzle of angles—proof that anyone can learn to read buildings the way poets read streets.
