L. M.

L. M. is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

L. M. hid in plain sight, signing prints with initials instead of names. A London printmaker, they cranked out crowd-pleasing portraits of famous actors in full costume, selling them cheap on street corners and coffee-house walls. One of these scrappy sheets shows David Garrick as King Lear, looking more like he’s hamming it up at a fair than playing Shakespeare.
