Artist

James White

James White is a British Romanticism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

James White kept a tiny studio tucked behind a London umbrella shop, where he painted watercolors so small they fit in his coat pocket. He liked to sneak into back alleys just to capture the way brick turned pink at dusk. They call it naïve art now, but really he was just lazy about perspective. Pop into the V&A’s British Galleries and look for the watercolor on the third floor that shows a chimney sweep taking a tea break; that’s his.
