Artist

Walton

Walton is an Impressionism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

He packed his watercolors the way other travelers pack socks—neat, practical, and a little dull until you see what they do. In 1861 he sat on the banks of the Nile near Gebel el Mody and painted the rocks and reeds exactly as they caught the morning light, no grand speeches, just a paper that still feels damp under your fingertips. Look up “On the Nile: Gebel el Mody, Nubia” and you’ll know why people used to call this stuff “travel sketches” before they decided it was art.
