István Tóth spent his days walking Budapest with an old Voigtländer tucked under his coat, snapping whatever caught his eye—storefronts, street kids, the Danube’s water stains on the embankment. He left almost nothing labeled, but those mute photographs hum with Budapest’s 1900-to-1920 pulse: tram tracks, shop signs, a lone cyclist slicing through the gray.
